‘Strategic framework to provide Sporting Upgrades with an inclusion of Ecological Preservation’
Moir Studio was engaged by the Hills Shire Council to develop a master plan for the existing Fred Caterson Reserve Sporting Precinct.
The Fred Caterson Reserve Sporting Precinct is situated amongst the Cattai Creek riparian corridor and is home to an extensive community of endangered ecological habitats and local wildlife. The Reserve is considered one of the Shire’s largest sporting complexes with over
4,000 visitors weekly, highlighting the demand for upgraded and new sporting facilities.
Extensive community consultation was undertaken with multiple stakeholders to fully understand the desires and aspirations of the existing sporting clubs within the site, as well as recognition of the constraints set out by the Shires vegetation management department.
The proposed master plan developed a strategic framework for future developments within the precinct whilst addressing the complex balance of providing public amenity while enhancing and supporting the existing ecology of the site.
