Moir Studio were engaged by Stockland to provide full design services for Golden Whistler Park - part of the McKeachies Run estate. The design was driven by the desire to create a strong landscape themed park that addressed the provision of community gathering spaces, active and passive recreation areas, connected pedestrian loops and additional tree planting to create habitat and shade.

The design of the playspace provides a functional, diverse and inclusive space that ensures people of all ages and abilities have access to green open space and a diverse range high quality recreation activities.

The key improvements include: the design of unique active play spaces that includes a combination of dynamic equipment such as climbing structure and flying fox and inviting, inclusive and safe play spaces for children of all ages and abilities to play side by side;

Integration of materials and furniture that reflect and enhance the character of the Mountains Precinct and McKeachies Run; opportunities for nature play and imaginative play spaces to encourage children to engage with nature and be physically active; improved circulation and accessibility through additional paths and a range of complementary recreation facilities for parents and carers including amenities, seats, picnic facilities and bubblers; improved visual amenity and protection with new trees and planting areas; additional seating opportunities to encourage social interaction; and spaces that are cognisant of passive surveillance (visibility) to create an open and safe space.
