MACQUARIE RIVER NORTH AND SOUTH PRECINCTS MASTER PLAN
Wiradjuri, Dubbo NSW
‘A collaborative approach to Enhancing Dubbo's Ecological and Recreational Future.’
Dubbo Regional Council engaged Moir Studio to prepare a Landscape Master Plan, ‘The Plan’, for Macquarie River’s North and South Precincts located within Central Dubbo. The Plan was developed in collaboration with a local Landscape Architecture practice, Sala4D, based in Orange. Sala4D has provided good local knowledge of the area and valuable experience in community consultation.
The precincts comprise an important stretch of open space with vital ecological, cultural, recreational and environmental functions. This includes parkland, active recreation, riparian corridors, movement networks and bushland, drawing users from a wide catchment within the Dubbo Regional Council LGA. The Plan aims to strengthen connections, increase utilisation and accessibility along the river corridor and provide enhanced open space, ensuring the retention of ecological values and improvement of passive and active community recreation.
The purpose of The Plan is to provide 5-10 year future investment guidance for Dubbo Regional Council, with a strategy to manage the lifespan and impact of works for the next 100 years and beyond. As such, the Plan maps out planned development and relevant strategic frameworks to ensure a holistic and sustainable approach.
The development of the Plan has been underpinned by comprehensive site analysis and extensive community consultation, including workshops, pop-up events and an online survey. Internal design workshops and presentations have also been held with Dubbo Regional Councill at key stages of the project.
