The Bathers Way is a scenic coastline promenade that links Newcastle’s beaches. It features a generous shared pathway with spectacular views, rest areas with seating, shade and cafes.

Newcastle City Council engaged Moir Studio to provide concept design, tender documentation, and construction documentation for Stage 3B of the Bathers Way redevelopment project.

The project is located along the beachfront walkway at Merewether Surf Club. Its design consists of a curved terraced platform that provides seating and interactive spaces that reduce conflict between cafe patrons and walkers through a narrow and highly utilised section of Bathers Way.

The area is now a key destination in Newcastle, as the combination of a vibrant atmosphere, coffee, and ample seating with views of the waves and Bar Beach has proven to be a significant drawcard.
