‘Balancing Community Feedback with Enhanced Facilities and Connectivity’
Moir Studio was involved in the Master planning and consultation for the Tomaree Sports Complex in the Port Stephens area.
Home to 14 formal sporting clubs and 1 community group, the complex is a unique site. Due to the individual requirements of each sporting group, Moir Studio took on the challenge of consolidating all feedback and facilitating consultation to assist in a clear strategy of asset and infrastructure management into the future, whilst holding on to the club culture and unique club qualities.
Through extensive community workshops and key stakeholder consultations, the proposed master plan intended to improve the amenity for players, support staff, volunteers, spectators and visitors. The concept resulted in an adaptable sports complex that would enhance existing facilities and clubrooms, improve vehicular movements, pedestrian and cyclist connectivity, improve visual amenity, maximise usability and retain the dense bushland and expansive vistas which contribute to the significance of the complex.
The Master Plan was submitted for public exhibition in June 2018 and adopted by Port Stephens Council in March 2019. Breaking ground on the project commenced in early 2020.
